White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre held a briefing on April 18, 2023 to discuss a variety of issues, including child care, tax day, and gun control.
On child care, Jean-Pierre said that the Biden administration is committed to making it more affordable and accessible for families. She pointed to the American Rescue Plan, which provided $39 billion in funding for child care, as well as the administration’s proposed Build Back Better Act, which would provide an additional $225 billion for child care.
On tax day, Jean-Pierre said that the administration is urging Americans to file their taxes early. She said that the IRS is prepared to handle the influx of returns, and that taxpayers can get help filing their taxes online or by calling the IRS toll-free number.
On gun control, Jean-Pierre said that the administration is committed to taking action to reduce gun violence.
